Woodsongs Old Time Music Hour

Unless you catch one of these artists live it is unlikely that you are going to see Danny Barnes, Billy Joe Shaver, Bo Ramsey or Sam Bush performing anytime soon. They certainly aren't showing up on on MTV or VH1 (and more depressing, not on CMT either). But the Woodsongs archive is a great opportunity to see them and many others in action. This is a syndicated radio program featuring Americana artists that films their recording sessions for webcast. Really cool! The videos are a pretty much a broadband affair, but there is also an audio archive of many shows. Sit back and relax...these shows are almost an hour in length.

"I hurt myself today..."

I had intended to link to this video after I first saw it several months ago. Director Mark Romanek did a fine job making a video which actually enhances the experience of the song....nearly unheard of these days. Then I thought about it again when MTV had it nominated for six Video Music Awards and rumors were swirling that it would win "Video of the Year" (which of course didn't happen.) It is all the more poignant and powerful now that he and June are gone. If you haven't seen it yet then check out "Hurt" by Johnny Cash

Richard Thompson, Pat Metheny and Kenneth Gorelick

Kenny G. fans please exit this post HERE.

My sis-in-law just informed me of a song by the great Richard Thompson that gives the quotes from Pat Metheny on Kenny G. a whole new life. (I Agree with Pat Metheny.mp3)

Blogger Pro revisited

I was under the false impression that Blogger Pro included, multiple page blogs, photo uploads and site stats. It does not. My enthusiasm has dwindled significantly.

At the same time Typepad continues to look more and more promising.

These two guys put more cool stuff daily in the sidebar of their blogs than most people do in a month. I find it amazing.

Blogger Pro is back! Well kinda...

It looks like Blogger Pro is back. But this time with all the premium services available in the free version....Wooohoo! Jason still seems to think that Moveable Type offers enough nice features and Blogger has enough issues (none of which I have experienced) to keep MT in the pay for play game. But Blogger Pro for free should suit me just fine....counting the days!!

Lauderdale rides with the herd

Jim Lauderdale has put out a nice string of Americana/HonkyTonk/Bluegrass CD's in the past few years. He is riding high on his "Artist of the Year" and "Song of the Year" awards at last Americana Music awards. He is slated to host this year. Now we has released a new album with jam?!? band Donna the Buffalo granted I don't know anything about The Buffalo but jamband seems like a new and surprising direction for Mr. Lauderdale (although it is worth pointing out that his main songwriting partner is Robert Hunter of the Grateful Dead) Well you can judge for yourself by listening to the entire album online at Funkyside - Music

Orisinal : Simple and Elegant

This guy's work has been around for along time, but he is constantly adding new games. They are the haiku of video games and as nice to look at as they are fun to play. Orisinal

Sam & David

Hey...the two best mandolinists alive (over 30 anyway) have a new album coming out September 23rd and you can listen to samples of all the tunes right here. Sounds great! If the link is not working, since Barnes and Noble seem to not want to make it easy to link to their site click here and search for Sam Bush...The new release is called "Hold on We're Strummin'"
